Bringing Theatre to the People of Wirral

About Us

Riverside Players has been presenting amateur theatre to the people of Wirral for over 65 years. Formed in 1943 we are well established as one of Wirral’s premier amateur dramatic societies. We have a loyal following of patrons and regularly play to good houses. We have also performed to audiences throughout the UK in local and regional festivals. We have also taken part in the All-England Theatre Festival winning it in 1985 being finalists several times most recently in 2001 with “The Art of Remembering” by Adina l. Ruskin

Our repertoire ranges from comedy to tragedy performed in one act  to full length productions. We normally mount 5 productions per year, in October and November, March and May with a Childrens play in the early new year.

Our main theatre venue is Heswall Hall although recently we

have also begun to use the Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight.

We have our own rehearsal rooms at Richmond Hall, in Heswall

courtesy of the Richmond Hall Trust and rehearsal nights are

Tuesdays Thursdays and Sundays at 7.30 pm.

We also have a thriving social scene with at least 4 social events

per year including a Christmas party and an End of Season

Party in summer.

All in all we are a friendly and dynamic society who take a very professional approach to amateur theatre but also try to have fun while we are doing so. We would be glad to see new members in both on stage and back stage roles.
